The Nation's Capitol.....Washington DC!!!!!
We got here to DC last Monday and saw our friends. Tuesday, we went to Arlington Cemetery, the Pentagon, and the Iwo Jima memorial and the Lincoln memorial at night - it was really cool! My friend and I even got matching t-shirts at the Pentagon. Wednesday, we toured the Capitol building (so cool), sat in on part of a senate session, and toured the Library of Congress. Thursday, we went to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, and then to the National Archives (and saw the real Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights). I think all of us girls got bored of the Air and Space museum - it was HUGE!!!!! Friday (yesterday) we went to the Ford's Theater (where Lincoln was shot) and then to the house across the street where he died. After that, we went to the Smithsonian museum of American History (and you should have seen Daniel's face when he saw Apolo Ohno's skates! I got a pic of him..... I'll post it below) - it was.....pretty fun though it was huge and we were tired after it, and then, on the way back to the metro, we walked by the White House. Today, we went up in the tower at the "Old Post Office" building - third tallest building in DC (taller than the Capitol!) and got a really good view of everything in DC. After that, we went to the Washington Monument and the war memorials. Everyone was tired (and hot!) after that, so we rode the metro back to the stop near where we had parked nearer our hotel and came back to the hotel (after eating supper in the food court in a mall that we walk through to get from the metro stop to our van). So..... I guess I just basically summarized our trip so far..... I think everyone got souvenir sunburns today :).

We stopped at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) on the way to DC and this is a pic of Stonewall Jackson's uniform and the coat he was wearing the night he was shot.
